Field Trip to Ivy Log Gap Road/Sosebee Cove

Event Date:
Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 6:00am

The Oconee Rivers Audubon Society will be hosting a field trip to Ivy Log Gap Road and Sosebee Cove in the North Georgia Mountains.  We will meet at the Homewood Shopping Center on Prince Avenue/Jefferson Road at the Athens Bypass to leave at 6:00AM.  We will try to car pool using as few vehicles as possible.  High ground clearance vehicles are really desireable on Ivy Log Gap Road.  This is a forest service road.

We will hit the Ingles at Blairsville around 7:30 hoping to find Willow Flycatchers and other migrants.  Then we'll bird Ivy Log Gap Road in Young Harris.  We will plan on BBQ lunch in Blairsville then will bird Sosebee Cove on the way home.

Our field trips are open to the public. This trip will last until 3-4 in the afternoon. Easy to moderate walking with much stop and start car birding on Ivy Log Gap Road. Please dress for the weather, wear practical shoes, bring insect repellent and snacks/water as desired.

If you have any questions please contact Ed Maioriello at fieldtrip@oconeeriversaudubon.org or 706-296-5275.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On occasion, field trips may have to be cancelled (bad weather, etc.) or important details may change (for example, the original meeting spot for a site may have to be changed if there is a trail closure or parking problem). If you plan to attend a birdwalk, ALWAYS check www.oconeeriversaudubon.org/events the night before for updates.
