Field Trip to Cochran Shoals

Event Date:
Saturday, October 1, 2016 - 6:00am

The Oconee Rivers Audubon Society will be hosting a bird walk at the Cochran Shoals unit of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.  We will meet at 6:00 AM in the Shops of South Athens Shopping Center on South Milledge near the Athens bypass.  We will try to car pool in as few vehicles as possible.  There is a $3.00 parking fee at Cochran Shoals.

Cochran Shoals is one of the premier birding sites in Metro Atlanta especially during fall migration.

Our bird walks are open to the public.  We are usually back in Athens by early to midafternoon.  Attendees may leave when they wish depending on the car pools.  Easy to moderate walking.  Please dress for the weather, wear practical shoes, bring insect repellent and snacks/water as desired.

For more information or directions for those wishing to drive independently please consult the National Park Service site.  We will be going to the Interstate North entrance.

If you have any questions please contact Ed Maioriello at fieldtrip@oconeeriversaudubon.org or 706-296-5275.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On occasion, field trips may have to be cancelled (bad weather, etc.) or important details may change (for example, the original meeting spot for a site may have to be changed if there is a trail closure or parking problem). If you plan to attend a birdwalk, ALWAYS check www.oconeeriversaudubon.org/events the night before for updates.
